Whiter stones give Firestone Diamonds renewed optimism

Following the re-opening of the plant, which was shut down in July, the company has revealed that three yellow stones weighing 27, 17 and 15 carats respectively, and three white stones weighing 12.4, 9.2 and 9.1 carats have been recovered during the last quarter.

With further improvements expected as the mine’s higher grade rock is processed, Firestone Diamonds is confident that it can build on these results. “We are happy with the progress that we have made at the pilot plant in recent months,” said chief executive, Tim Wikes. “The change in the amount of whiter stones recovered is also encouraging and should continue on an upward trend as the mine plan calls for more of the higher grade, larger stone bearing areas of the pit to be mined during the remainder of the year.”
